Lorna shared Shan’s Story and her journey in the eighth edition publication of Portugal’s Onco Glam magazine. A special introduction from across the Atlantic was also shared:
“I met Lorna Larsen, a nurse, at an international conference on breast cancer in young women. During her presentation to an audience of healthcare professionals and patients, the impact of her story about her daughter Shanna was undeniable. In that moment, I realized that Onco Glam had a duty to immortalize her testimony.
We are more than a source of information; we strive to raise awareness, inspire, and foster understanding about everything cancer represents. Our purpose is not only to give voice to what cancer brings but also to reflect on what it takes away. Above all, we believe that tragedy can give rise to concrete and transformative projects—a belief that underpins the creation of this magazine.
The project founded by Lorna, a nurse and mother, emerged from the pain of personal tragedy and today symbolizes hope for young women. Despite the 6,914 km distance between us, we received her powerful and moving story. A narrative that, when seen from the right perspective, makes it impossible to remain indifferent to the necessity of early and informed breast cancer surveillance.”
