Lorna was proud to present on the Team Shan Story and other BCYW work at the 2024 AYA Cancer Global Congress in Melbourne, Australia Dec 3-6, 2024.

Lorna’s newest publication “Addressing the Challenge of Delayed Diagnosis Due to Age-related Disparities in Young Women’s Breast Cancer Care” was published in the first issue of the international Journal of Young Women’s Breast Cancer and Health in October, 2024.
Lorna has been invited as a Distinguished Speaker to present at the 1st International Conference on Young Women’s Breast Cancer and Health in Lisbon, Portugal October 29-30th. Team Shan will also be highlighted in a poster display.

Team Shan will be hosting mini marketing campaigns throughout Ontario during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Other events will be taking place along with Team Shan participation in the 1st International Conference on Young Women’s Breast Cancer and Health in Lisbon, Portugal Oct 28-30th.

Thrilled to announce the launch of the Breast Cancer in Young Women (BCYW) Foundation site at http://breastcancerinyoungwomen.org The BCYW Foundation’s vision is to create a reality in which the death of a young woman from breast cancer becomes a rare event. Team Shan is proud to be an international partner and Lorna Larsen (Team Shan President) a BCYW Global Ambassador. The Foundation’s mission is to save the lives of young women from breast cancer by raising awareness, facilitating the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, funding advanced research that directly benefits young patients, and building a future free of breast cancer for young women.

Lorna was proud to have her manuscript entitled “Could this be cancer?” Addressing diagnostic delay disparities in adolescents and young adults with caner through targeted awareness and mitigation of help-seeking behaviors published in the Jan-March 2023 edition of the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology Research and Practice. Team Shan kicked off the New Year with a presentation to Grade 11 female students at the Delhi District Secondary School!

Team Shan friends and supporters helped celebrate our 15th anniversary at the Upper Thames Brewing Company site in Woodstock, ON. Live music was performed by Jeff Sweete, beer and pizza was available and silent auction event held on site. The evening was highlighted by a visit from the Advanced Auto and Towing breast cancer awareness rig and donation to Team Shan!

During our 15th anniversary year, Team Shan hosted fifteen mini marketing campaigns on sites across Ontario and in Winnipeg, MB. Public awareness was well received with a new digital billboard campaign on Hwy 400 north garnering the most interaction!

Fall 2022 Team Shan breast cancer awareness campaign in Peterborough was featured in the Peterborough Examiner highlighting Amy Semple, 8 year cancer survivor, who facilitated fundraising to support the campaign marketing in appreciation of Team Shan and Shan’s memory.
